What's New at the Library for 2012:

• Have a Wii or an Xbox?  Thanks to the Friends of the Library, the library now has video games to check out. 

• Thinking about an eReader?  The library's nook and Kindle are now available to check out.

• Recycle your printer cartridges at the library.  There is a new drop box in the front foyer to recycle ink and toner cartridges.

Upcoming Events & Announcements

• Storytime Returns, Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.  Join us for stories, finger plays, poems and crafts, for ages 3-5.  Free, but registration is required.  Call the library or stop by to sign up.

• Saturday, 1/28, 11:00 a.m. Lifecycle of Raptors at the Senior Center.  Join us to learn all about owls -- from egg to brancher to adult, and meet an owl in person.  Windows on Wildlife will present this program, for ages 5+ (younger siblings welcome), no registration, free.  This program is sponsored by a donation from George E. McKenna Insurance and MAPFRE | Commerce Insurance.

Don't forget to Eat and Drink in Town, Support the Library! 

The Castle Restaurant has generously offered to donate 10% of the bill for every meal between now and the end of February to the Leicester Public Library Capital Campaign's Renovation Fund. Your night out, office holiday party, or gift for that hard to buy for friend or family member will help the library raise the money needed to fund it's planned renovation and expansion. The Castle Restaurant, 1230 Main Street in Leicester, is open Wednesday - Saturday from 11:30 - 9:30 p.m. and Sundays from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Cumberland Farms will donate 20 cents for every dispensed drink, including coffee, purchased at their newly remodeled store at 1530 Main Street.  Stop by now through January 11, buy a drink, and support the library!

 Fundraising Updates

The Fill a Bank Coin Collection effort by younger students was wildly successful as well.  The Primary School raised $1,711 and the Memorial School raised $1,310.  It's never to late to fill a bank -- extras are available at the library.   Thank you! 

We still have to raise about $1,000,000 to fund our renovation and expansion.  Watch this space for upcoming fundraisers, including a silent auction and a dinner at the Publick House.

Capital Campaign Debuts New Video

The Leicester Public Library Capital Campaign Committee has produced a new video highlighting the history and renovation/expansion plans for the library.  Check it out on LCAC, or click here to watch it now.  Interior and exterior drawings of the proposed new building and site plans are available at the library.  If you have questions, or would like to make a contribution toward the Renovation Fund, please call Suzanne Hall, Library Director, at (508) 892-7020.
